Women are competing
The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Jonne Koski was the winner in the first race. Tia Clair Toomey Orr was also victorious. After maintaining her lead throughout competition, Koski was declared the overall winner. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. It was the first Games event by women. The women's side wanted to complete the podium.
The women's competition features top-level female athletes. The field features nine athletes, including a 19 year-old Australian powerhouse who won this competition last year. Kara Saunders of Australia, who was second in Australia and eleventh in the world in 2020, are also contenders. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).
Pegboard contest
Pegboard contest at Crossfit Games 2121 was a new concept. It was also added to the Games' Olympic summer program. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 for men and earned his third win of the Games. There were several ties in the contest, but Toomey-Orr's dominance was not enough to keep him out of the win.

The scoring table used to determine the winners in the 2019 games was very similar to the one used to determine the losers in 2021. This is why it's most likely that the current system will be used.
This year's field consists of 236 athletes, making it the largest in the history of the CrossFit Games. Major cuts are made in the first six events. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. The top 30 then compete in a sprint couplet to determine the top ten. The top 20 competitors then compete for the remaining six events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 is the new shoe. They are built to accommodate multiple fitness needs. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe.
