CrossFit Games 2021 will be taking place in a few weeks and many CrossFit Games participants are very excited. Along with the usual CrossFit Games competitions like those for men, there will also be events for women. We're all familiar with the Reebok's equipment, the Pegboard contest, and the Cutting system. But what do we know about the womens' competition? Continue reading to find out! And don't forget to check out the CrossFit news page for updates on the competition!
Women are competing
The women's competition at the 2021 Crossfit Games began this morning with the swim event. Jonne and Tia Claire Toomey-Orr won the first competition. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall finished second and Eramoo O’Connell third, respectively. It was the first Games women's event and the women hoped to complete it.
The women's competition features top-level female athletes. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders (Australian athlete) finished second in Australia. She was also eleventh worldwide for 2020. Andrea Nisler is another rising star. She competed in the team category in 2018 and placed third in the United States, and 15th overall in 2020. The Women's competition will feature these athletes as well as Sara Sigmundsdottir (an Icelandan competitor who won the first place medal at World Crossfit Games earlier last year).
Pegboard contest
Pegboard at Crossfit Games 2020 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr held the record for most Games wins with 30. Sager won Event 11 men's and received his third Games win. Although there were many ties, Toomey-Orr's dominance wasn't enough to prevent him from winning the contest.

Athletes train for the CrossFit Games by focusing on ten general physical fitness skills: cardiovascular endurance, strength, flexibility, power, speed, and agility. Pegboard is a contest that tests competitor's grip strength as well as coordination. A scale is used to determine the strength and coordination of competitors. The competition was intense, and the athletes left feeling satisfied after completing their Pegboard.
Cutting system
CrossFit Games will again use a cutting method for individual competition. It's not as extreme as the cuts used in past Games, but still very different than this year. The competition consists of 15 individual events, so a first cut to 30 athletes is likely after the seventh or eighth event. The question is: How will CrossFit adjust points after cuts? The scoring system used in 2019 was virtually identical to the 2021 one, so it is probable that this will continue.
This year's field consists of 236 athletes, making it the largest in the history of the CrossFit Games. Major cuts are made at the six initial events. The field is reduced to 75 athletes. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. From there, the top twenty athletes compete in the six remaining events. Castro's system was strongly criticised by former Games participants, who felt that cuts were too substantial.
Reebok's equipment
Reebok announces new CrossFit Games clothing, shoes and other equipment. Nano X1 will be the new shoes. They're made to fit multiple fitness needs. Although Reebok calls this shoe "the shoe for fitness", it feels more like a training shoe. DuPont’s Kevlar material is used to make the upper of this shoe, which promotes breathability as well as durability. The shoe's responsiveness can be enhanced by its firm midsole and RopePro Tech.

CrossFit's contract with Reebok will expire at the end 2020. The Games will no longer have a title sponsor. Reebok has sponsored these Games for over a decade. However, it now appears that the company's involvement in the Games is decreasing. Reebok won’t pay for the Games’ prize, but they will continue to make all athletic apparel, equipment, and gear worn by athletes. The company will no longer call itself the "Reebok CrossFit Game", as it currently does.
FAQ
Which is the best workout for men?
The answer depends on what you are looking for. Cardio workouts can help you lose weight faster than strength training.
Strength training, on the other hand, is better if you are looking to increase muscle mass.
Both types can be used to improve your overall wellbeing.
If you're looking for a quick way to get fit, I recommend HIIT/sprint interval training. This type of training can help you lose fat quickly and increase your metabolism. It also boosts your endurance to continue training even when you feel tired.
How Metabolic health is key to aging well
People live longer lives than ever before. However, people are getting sicker as they live longer. And while we've made great strides in medical science, it's becoming increasingly clear that our current approach isn't working.
We must change the way that we look at health and aging. We have to start looking at metabolic health - not just weight loss but overall wellness - as the key to healthy aging.

Yes. Alcohol can increase energy expenditure, speed recovery time, and reduce soreness.
It also increases insulin sensitivity. This makes it easier and faster to absorb glucose.
Dehydration can result from alcohol, which can affect your metabolism. Also, alcohol can reduce testosterone production, which may lead to lower muscle-building potential.
Women shouldn't consume alcohol before exercising. Women who drink heavily should wait at least 24 hours between drinking and working out.
Breastfeeding women should stay away from alcohol.
Men should drink only one glass of alcohol per day.
What are the best foods to avoid when trying weight loss?
Avoid trans fats. Trans fats increase LDL cholesterol (the bad) and decrease HDL cholesterol (the healthy).
Trans fats can also be found in deep-fried food, fast food, packaged bakery goods, snack cakes, as well as other processed foods.
These unhealthy fats cause inflammation which leads to heart disease, diabetes, and other health problems.
Avoid eating foods that contain artificial sweeteners. Artificial sweeteners are linked to an increased risk of cancer.
These chemicals are used in everything from soft drinks to chewing gum to candy bars. They can also be found in other foods like meat, poultry, and eggs.
Artificial sweeteners can be saccharin or cyclamate, sucralose, sorbitol or aspartame.
The American Heart Association advises against using these chemicals, as they could damage DNA.
